BOSTON'S ELIOT HOTEL IS NAMED
"TOP SMALL CITY HOTEL IN THE U.S. + CANADA"
BY TRAVEL + LEISURE
14th Annual Reader's Survey Results Reveal the World's Best Places to Stay
Boston, MA (July 10, 2009) For decades, Travel + Leisure has been the gold standard publication for America's most savvy and sophisticated globe-trotters.
This year, Travel + Leisure readers were surveyed for the magazine's 14th annual World's Best Awards. They overwhelmingly chose The Eliot Hotel in Boston as the #1 Small (under 100 rooms) City Hotel in the continental U.S. and Canada. The hotel also appears at #19 on the World's Best Awards Top 100 Hotels Overall (in the world).
The Travel + Leisure survey asked readers to rate hotels on: location, rooms and facilities, service, food and restaurants, and value. The Eliot Hotel takes particular pride in its restaurants. Clio and Uni Sashimi Bar are operated by James Beard Award winner Ken Oringer (Best Chef Northeast 2001).
The Eliot Hotel is among a handful of small, independent hotels in Boston. In fact, in an era epitomized by chain hotels and corporate mergers, The Eliot has been owned by the same family since 1939.
World's Best Award winners in other categories will be detailed in the magazine's August issue, and are online now at www.travelandleisure.com/worldsbest.
The Eliot Hotel has been cited for excellence in numerous national publications in the past," said (Ms.) Pascale Schlaefli, General Manager since 1997, who will attend the World's Best Awards ceremony in New York later this month. "Considering the competition around the country in the urban hotel category, to be named #1 in the U.S. and Canada is astounding. We're humbled," she said.
