The Langham, Boston is the first hotel in North America to achieve Gold Certification with EarthCheck, the company announced today. EarthCheck is the world's leading environmental management and professional services group for the travel and tourism industry.
The Langham, Boston, a 318 room luxury hotel located in downtown Boston, received the certification for its efforts towards environmental, economic and social sustainability. The hotel joined EarthCheck in 2009 to help integrate green practices into its day-to-day operations.

Sustainability practices and equipment adopted by The Langham, Boston including the recent installation of a new chiller system and Enerlogic VEP 35 tinted windows add to a number of initiatives that have allowed the hotel to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 4.6kg CO2 -e per guest night, which is equivalent to taking 721 small cars off the road each year.
EarthCheck provided The Langham, Boston with a framework for environmental and social sustainability. This included requirements specific to the hotel's management systems, such as quality, environment, occupational health and safety, risk management and corporate social reporting.
