While this neighborhood may best be known as the home of the Red Sox and Fenway Park, it is also one of Boston's academic and cultural hubs.
Fenway and Kenmore are known for their strong academic presence, including Boston Latin School, America's first public school, and several institutions of higher learning. Nearly a dozen of the 100 colleges and universities located in Greater Boston can be found here, giving the neighborhood an unmistakably energetic feel.
Many of the undergraduate students, as well as young people throughout the city, are drawn to the lively bars and clubs along Lansdowne Street. The Fenway, a central thoroughfare that encircles the Back Bay Fens, the neighborhood's preeminent green space, was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted. Not far from Kenmore Square, you'll also find the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, Museum of Fine Arts, and Symphony Hall.
