Although Boston is a popular tourist destination, there are many bordering towns beyond Boston that too have much to offer. With many popular museums, attractions, and entertainment venues, these neighboring towns provide a rich array of experiences for visitors to explore during their Boston trip. As a port city in a historic region, Boston provides easy access to a number of these destinations. By land or sea, visitors will find New England charm as they journey outside the city, either along the coast or into the countryside. From Gloucester, to Concord, to Cape Cod, unique exploration beckons just beyond Boston.
Head to the waterfront and hop aboard Boston Harbor City Cruises (BHCC) ferry service to visit the Boston Harbor Islands, a national park made up of 34 small islands just off the shore, or to Salem, the "witch city" of 17th-century lore. Both BHCC and Bay State Cruises offer fast ferry services to Provincetown, an eclectic artists’ community teeming with galleries, restaurants, quaint shops, and beautiful beaches located on the tip of Cape Cod. Make the most of your trip to the Cape and take a high-speed ferry (Hy-Line cruise) to two of the most picturesque destinations in New England, Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard. Book a cruise on the Beauport Princess and explore Cape Ann's Gloucester Harbor, known for its fishing culture and gorgeous beaches.
