Mayor Michelle Wu announced the Boston Open Streets programs for the 2026 summer season
Experience a car-free day filled with community fun at Boston’s Open Streets! During these open street events, the city will close major thoroughfares to motor traffic, opening them for pedestrian use only. This free, family friendly initiative transforms city streets into vibrant pedestrian zones, perfect for biking, walking, and exploring. Join your neighbors for a day of play, featuring food trucks, photo installations, exclusive performances and activations, family friendly activities like face painting, balloon animals, crafts, and more!
